Rosprirodnadzor Reports New Violations
Russian Federal Environmental Protection Agency (Rosprirodnadzor) has informed Minister of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation Y. Trutnev on results of work of the Agency for last week.During the inspections lead by the Watchdog within week, infringements in work of the subsoil users in territory of Irkutsk and Sakhalin areas, Republic Buryatiya and Republic Komi have been revealed.

Gazprom Interest in Methane
Gazprom is said to plan launching industrial production of methane in the Kemerovo region in late 2009. Annual methane output is projected at 5bn cubic meters. To achieve this goal, Gazprom intends to complete geological survey of two coalfields in 2008 and drill 60 wells per year.

Russian Environmental Watchdog, Rosprirodnadzor, in March-April, 2008 will lead scheduled inspections to observe the compliance of the Nature Protection Legislation by some mining companies in the different regions of the Russian Federation. The corresponding order was signed by Head Rosprirodnadzor Vladimir Kirillov.
